School Leavers This is a crucial stage for choices, options and decisions. The information in this section is intended to inform you of the issues that may affect your choice. The options include: further education employment training part-time study studying/working/training in Europe Modern Apprenticeships self-employment At 18+ additional options become available: higher education Sponsorships and scholarships Technician Training Routes and Qualifications Most options lead to qualifications but most higher education or further education courses require you to have certain qualifications before you start the course. (For example, to be offered a place at a university, you normally need at least 2 'A' levels). See Routes to Employment. Key elements At this stage, every school leaver should have: a completed Personal Action Plan a National Record of Achievement contact with Key Support Staff such as Careers advisers or teachers to assist with post-16/post-18 decisions some job search skills some thoughts about a CV some knowledge of interview techniques Some of these are covered in more detail in Employment
