faqsWhat are Modern Apprenticeships?
Modern Apprenticeships are a career option for 16 and 17 year old school and college leavers. They offer a route to acquiring the skills and qualifications that employers are currently looking for.

faqsWhat do Modern Apprenticeships involve ?
They involve a combination of practical skills training, experience and formal training in your chosen career.

You also learn other skills such as working as part of a team, or problem solving, that employers really value.

faqsWho are Modern Apprenticeships designed for?
They are mainly designed for school or college leavers aged 16 or 17 years old.

faqsHow long does a Modern Apprenticeship last?
It takes about three years to complete the training.

faqsWhich qualification does an apprenticeship lead to?
The training leads to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 3 - showing that you can do a job to the standard industry and commerce require.

Some companies encourage their top apprentices to progress on to NVQ levels 4 and 5. Exceptional apprentices may be offered company sponsorship for a degree course.

faqsHow much does an apprentice get paid?
Most Modern Apprentices are employed by a local business and paid wages. Where this is not possible you are linked to an employer, or group of employers, and paid an allowance.

faqsHow can I find out more ?
Local Careers Services, School Careers Teachers or Training and Enterprise Councils (TECs) in England and Wales can provide more information about local opportunities. If you live in Scotland, speak to your Local Enterprise Company (LEC).
