faqs What are Records of Achievement and why are they important?
The National Record of Achievement, NRA, is a document that records your academic and personal achievements. It can be updated regularly to include any additional work experience or extra qualifications. Just after you leave school, you are presented with your NRA. It contains a summary of your school achievements plus a record of your exam results. It is an important document that you can show at any interviews you have.

faqsDoes it only record details from the final year at school?
It records details of your exam results because employers or colleges will want to see these, but it also summarises your achievements in and out of school.

faqsWhen do the records start?
Your school record starts from your first year in school. In year 7 you start to assess your own work and achievements. You record what you have done in each subject with a comment on how you feel about your work. Throughout the year, teachers comments and exam results are added. This is a School Record of Achievement. It is a permanent record of your school life.

faqsWhat sorts of things are recorded?
Exam results, teachers comments, plus details of any positive achievements both in and out of school. For example, you may receive certificates for swimming or for participating in outdoor pursuits; you may receive commendations for community projects or be involved in voluntary work. All of these are added to a record of achievement.

faqs Why are non-academic achievements recorded?
All of this information gives a much more detailed picture of what you are like as a person.

faqs How can the NRA be used?
It can be used at an interview to show an employer your academic and personal achievements. An employer is interested to see all this information as it tells him/her about your academic record and about the type of person you are.

You can use your NRA as a personal record of your achievements, and carry on adding to it as you gain more qualifications and experience.

An NRA can help you plan your career moves because it outlines the skills and knowledge you have as well as your interests. If it is regularly updated it can be used throughout your life in many useful ways that are personal to you.
