How to Help Your Child

Writing

This section is a test of writing. You should try to organise and express your ideas clearly. Pay attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation.

(In the SATs test, you would only need to answer one question from this section)

number1 How would you describe a friend?

We all have friends, but how would you describe your relationship with a special friend? What does friendship mean to you?

Think about:
How you treat your friend
How your friend treats you
The things that you share
How you think you should be treated
How you think you should behave towards a friend
The importance of friendship

number2 Acts of friendship are important in our lives. Why?

We expect our friends to treat us properly, but sometimes we are surprised and pleased to be helped by someone who isn't a particularly close friend. In the same way, we also need to help others from time to time.

Think about:
A situation where someone, who wasn't a close friend, has helped you
Your feelings towards the person who has helped you
Ways in which you could help other people
A situation where you have helped someone else
Why you would help someone you don't know

In you answer you could include:
Information about famous people you have read about who help others less fortunate than themselves

number3 What would it be like to have no friends?

You could write about yourself or someone else.

You can make this an imaginary piece of writing.
