When are the tests taken?

The tests are carried out during the summer term in school, for pupils in years 2, 6 and 9. Some pupils are given practical tasks first to see if they are ready to take the written tests. The written tests have to be completed in a set time and for Key Stages 2 & 3 there is a timetable for the tests. [See timetable below]

The tests must be taken on those dates given. Pupils are not allowed to take the tests at any other time. Parents are given the results of the tests and the teacher assessments before the end of the summer term.

Key Stage 1 Timetable for Key Stage 1 Tests 1998

At Key Stage 1, the tasks are carried out during the Spring and Summer terms. The written tests are taken sometime during May. Schools can choose any date during this period to suit themselves.

Pupils who are assessed at level 4 must take the KS2 tests during the KS2 test week (at the same time as KS2 pupils) or at any time after that week. All written tests must be complete by the beginning of June.
