![]() | Increased awareness - Years 7 & 8 In Years 7 & 8 young people are encouraged to be more independent in planning their own work and their own time. They begin to record and assess their own progress through individual Records of Achievement. With this independence comes an increasing awareness of the world of work - its demands, its benefits and the range of job possibilities. Some schools actively promote links between employers and education (see Careers Convention case study). |
![]() | Careers Education In Year 9, pupils are introduced to the world of work through timetabled careers lessons. Every school has their own way of presenting careers but all lessons or activities aim to broaden pupils' knowledge of the career opportunities open to them. Most schools include a study of occupational categories, levels of jobs and equal opportunities in their careers curriculum. |
![]() | Careers Activities Careers activities take many forms: from using a database or computer program to explore career interests, to links with local industry. They may involve visits from a local careers adviser and the use of publications and information packs with videos and work-sheets.
