Carbohydrates

Carbohydrate is the predominant source of energy for strength training.  Carbohydrates are stored in the muscles as glycogen. Glycogen is the fuel that supplies the energy to the muscles for strength training, therefore carbohydrates are vital for strength training.

Here is a list of foods that are high in carbohydrates:

  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Bread
  • Oatmeal
  • Raisins
  • Beans
