Warm-Up

Before starting any weight session a warm up must be performed. This is to prevent injury and to ensure the workout is used to its maximum potential.

Firstly start the training session with a 5 minute aerobic exercise, E.G. Treadmill Run, followed by a light set of the exercise about to be performed E.G.

·       Bench Press

·       50% of 1 RM

·      10-15 Reps

Muscular
Implication Explanation
Reduction of injury Greater elasticity of muscle
Greater speed and strength of contraction Greater elasticity of muscle & better co-ordination of atagonistic pairs.

 

Cardio-vascular
Implication Explanation
Increased enzyme activity Increased temperature
Increased cardiac output Greater venous return from working muscles
Prevention of OBLA (Onset of  Blood Lactate Accumulation) Increased blood flow
