Smoking cessation

Background

Chris Waite, a specialist smoking cessation advisor has been referred Mr Phillips by the cardiologist consultant Dr Smith.

Mr Phillips has smoked for 20 years and is unsure of his ability to give up. Mr Waite sees him in a private room at the hospital; his sessions run at the same time and place as the clinic so patients don't have to make the journey into the hospital twice and there's easy communication between Dr Smith and Mr Waite.

Penny Fisher, a student nurse working in the clinic is sitting in on the interview to find out more about how to support people to stop smoking.
