During your academic course reflection is also involved in the process of representing learning and you are required to produce reflective assignments for assessment during your course.

Reflective writing is a skill required of you to represent your reflection of an experience to demonstrate your learning. Writing offers you a wider view after a significant learning experience to explore the main issues within the event leading to new understanding and appreciation. You may be required to reflect on particular events within group work at university or a practice based situation. Our help desk section introduces you to various models of reflection to help guide you through the process (page 37).

So what do your lecturers want from you? We have included a question and answer page which highlights some of the areas of reflection students need guidance (page 5). Also Jenny, a student nurse recalls a placement experience (page 10). She then shares her reflection on the experience and an extract from her assignment and action plan (page 15).
