New ways of looking at it
Whether you talk to somebody else, put things down on paper, or think things through alone, it helps to look at the experience in new ways.
These include:
- replaying it as it happened (or repeating it as you read, heard or saw it)
- analysing it logically...what went right / wrong, how is it similar to other situations, what could you do in future
- reading - journal articles, books, newspaper articles etc which may give new insights
- looking at pictures, films, TV programmes which may give new insights
- thinking about what might have been....what would you like to have happened
