A noun is a name of a thing, a person, a place or feeling.
For example: book, James, England, love.
Everything has a name, but some names are special. These are names of people or places such as your name and your town. When we write a special name we should always use a capital letter at the beginning of the word.
For example: three lions, a fierce fever, an alien world, a bright child.
You should make your adjectives as interesting as possible because it gives the reader more information about the noun and it makes your writing more exciting. When you have written a story, look again at the adjectives. Are they the best you could use? A Thesaurus can help you find some new words.
For example: The acrobats tumbled and rolled around the circus ring.
The spaceship landed with a bump.
A verb is also a 'being' word
There is a verb in every sentence. Try to use vivid and vibrant action verbs, or make your verbs more interesting by using a good adverb.
For example: The door closed silently.
John watched enviously.
The princess lived happily ever after.
Did you notice that adverbs often end in -ly? When you need to use an ordinary ver, then a good adverb can make it more interesting.
For example: I like it because it is funny.
When we first start to join sentences we often use the word 'and'. Try to join your sentences with other words - but, because, however, although, either, neither or for - to see if your stories sound better.
