One seminar early on in the course, we were formed into groups by the IPE tutor, I ended up away from my friends and with a group of people in my set I didn't know well.
One of the boys in the group was very quiet, looked like he wouldn't say boo to a goose. He was skinny, not very good looking, the sort of person I wouldn't have anything to do with normally. Rumour was that he still lived with his Mum and I've been away from home for ages. I feel quite proud of the way I've got on with moving and starting the course, making friends, learning to do new things, it's all felt fine for me, easy even.
Anyway, we were supposed to be discussing something or other and I was trying - but not very hard - to keep conversation going, but no one said anything back. Some of the girls were saying they were bored, but this skinny chap, Jim, never said a word.
