1. Creating an SQL Server database and Webspace using the self-service Web page

It is essential that you have the correct resources in place before you begin to build your own Web applications. The key resources that you will need are:

  • A database
  • Some web space on a web server
  • Login and password information for the above

To do this, you will be given resources on 2 different servers which are housed in CMS:

  • Galba - A windows 2000 Server, which has SQL Server 2000 installed (Your database will be stored here)
  • Otho (pronounced 'otto'- A windows 2000 Server, which has plenty of spare Web space (your Web space will be stored here)

You are required to create these resources yourself. This is done via a self-service Web page.
