Assessment: Personal Blog (20% of module assessment)

Information about the Assessment

A Blog has been set up for you on module's Blackboard site. You are to contribute to this blog on weekly basis. Each of your contributions will amount to one post which would be a short reflection on your personal development inline with the module's learning material and aims and objective of the work in one or a number of weeks.

Aims

Your Blog is intended to provide the mechanism for you to consider module's content, teaching methods and your study skills inline with your personal development plan and your intended professional career. The aims for maintaining a blog are two folds:

1. To provide a mechanism for helping you to manage your learning and engage with the module in an informed, constructive and continuously developmental manner.

2. To help you with your book keeping - Your posts are to help you develop the outcome for "Reflection on Personal Development" assignment.

Outcome

• A personal Blog to consist of student reflection throughout the delivery of the module

You are well advised to look up notes on critical reflection.

Method of Working

• You need to post to your blog for every week (or a number of weeks after the last post) that is denoted by "" on module's Website
• Your weekly reflection must adhere to a framework. You must limit your reflection and focus on the following questions:
1. What did I learn and/or what more could I have learned?
2. How might what I have learned help me develop my professional career both long term and short term? Example of short-term career development maybe placement year.
• Your weekly post to your blog should not amount to more than 150 words in total and so you must consider in detail when you are preparing your posts.
• You must make sure that you post before 5:00PM on Friday of the week in which you are required to do so. Only these timely posts will be assessed and assigned marks. Late posts are awarded a maximum mark of 1 out of 3. Posts that are more than 7 days late will be marked as 0.
• Late post is better than no post - You are still encouraged to contribute even if your post is late - Remember, this practice is to help you manage your learning.

What did I learn and/or what more could I have learned? 50%	No post (0) or late post (maximum 1). Insertions amount to regurgitation. Student does not cover critical thinking and reflection.	Fair engagement with the module and student demonstrates good awareness of what is going on. Student demonstrates	There is good evidence of awareness of the module content. Student has exploited the learning opportunity and demonstrates awareness beyond the boundaries of learning material. Student demonstrates awareness of how he may extend himself and create learning opportunities.
How might what I have learned help me develop my professional career both long term and short term? 50%	No post (0) or late post (maximum 1). Insertions amount to regurgitation. Student does not cover critical thinking and reflection.	Some awareness of where it is all going in relation of how technology is used in industry. Insertions directly relate to module content and student may not altogether demonstrate awareness of an overall strategy for personal development.	Student makes effective proposals for self-development inline with immediate career and beyond. Demonstrate awareness of importance of exploiting technical knowledge in business. Module content (or lack of appropriate content) is discussed in relation to role of IT in business.
