early 1950's

J6 Haulage was established as a co-operative in Sheffield to provide transport services for finished goods from the steel industry. J6's reputation for reliability and service meant that the business grew rapidly and was able to branch out into more general haulage.

1965

the depot was established at Tankersley.

1970  

the co-operative was disbanded and the business was taken over by Rapid Haulage Ltd.

1980's

the business moved away from the heavy haulage associated with the steel industry and focussed on general finished goods distribution for both manufacturers and retailers. Food distribution was introduced. The fleet is built up to include articulated curtainside trailers.

1986   

Rapid Haulage Ltd merged with Century Distribution to form Logistics plc, quoted on the London Stock Exchange. The merger resulted in the inclusion in the business of Century's modern depot at Longbridge.

1988

New logo and livery launched to reflect new activities and sector focus

1990's

Logistics plc move into Warehousing, expanding the Tankersley depot.

1999 

A new state-of-the-art warehouse management facility is established on the outskirts of Gloucester.

Establishment of the Corporate Transport and Events Equipment division.

2000

the business appointed Logistics plc to manage exclusively the supply and distribution to all of their stores and to manage the online shopping part of the company.

2001-06 

Further development of the WMS business and expansion of the haulage fleet

2007

Logistics plc acquired Hans Siegel Haulage based in Rotterdam. This provides us with a European depot from which to develop our international haulage business.
