Swiss balls or gym balls can be used in core stability training to enhance the range of movement and coordination of muscles and joints. The ball can work as an aid in rehabilitation for athletes and as a training aid to increase core stability. The swiss ball permits a range of exercises that can be structured towards the ability of the athlete. Swiss ball exercises require a great deal more coordination than conventional mat exercises. They can also be used as a stretching aid.
