3. Overall this has been a positive learning experience. It has highlighted the importance of preparation and of the need to develop specific techniques to manage nerves. This is essential if I am to build on my learning and begin to present more confidently in ward rounds. In understanding the factors that contribute to these feelings I recognise that I need to address negative thought patterns and my tendency to catastrophise. I recognise that I need support to do this and have already contacted my personal tutor to discuss this in more detail.

4. Craig (2009) suggests that when students present in front of their peers anxiety is intensified as a result of 'the need for group acceptance and validation. The student is trapped between the desire to perform well and receive a good mark and the fear that in doing so they may be ostracized by others in the group.’ (p14) This could account for my ambivalence and nervousness. However it was further compounded by memories of my last presentation when I froze and gained only a borderline pass.

5. Overall, I was happy with the design of my slides and the flow or direction of my presentation. I have enjoyed the process of coming up with the idea for a group; having to think through the funding aspects and design appropriate publicity. I feel I have learned a great deal from this module, my confidence has increased massively and I am looking forward to applying what I have learned in the near future.
