Vowels

  penny_r ' Hello, I am Penny Phonic.
My job is to help you with the
sounds that letters make. '

Let's look at five letters

aeiou

These letters are very important. They are called vowels. You will find one of these letters in almost every word you read.

Often you say the sound of the letters when you read a word. Try to read these words and you will see what I mean:

The vowels (a, e, i, o, and u) all have a short sounds in these words.

Practise saying the sounds (not the names) of the letters in the alphabet.

a b c d e f g h i j k l m
n o p q r s t u v w x y z

Now use the alphabet to complete these words.

Can you write 3 words with 'a' in the middle?
