Our Year

January's here - from day one,
So our New Year has now begun.

The February snow turns green to white,
But on some days, the sun shines bright.

March winds blow umbrellas inside out.
"Don't do that!" I want to shout.

April rains make the gardens grow
Flowers stand like soldiers in a row.

Maypole dancing, crown the May queen,
"Is she the fairest you have seen?"

Midsummer madness, lazy afternoons,
In the glorious days of June.

End of a school year - time to say goodbye.
Get ready for the holidays, in July.

August on the beach, paddling in the sea.
"Let's build a big sandcastle for you and me!"

Back to school - September days -
Remembering summer holidays.

The month of October now comes calling,
Nights are shorter, autumn leaves are falling.

Bonfire Night, we always remember
Sparklers and fireworks for the 5th of November

Eleven months are gone, the year is almost past
For today it's December and Christmas - at last!
