Proverbs

A proverb is a saying or expression. It is used to make a comment on life.

Here is a well-known proverb:

Too many cooks spoil the broth.

It means that if there's too many people trying to sort things out, things don't get done.

Some of these proverbs are about 'feelings'. Can you find out what they mean?

Pride comes before a fall.

All's fair in love and war.

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.

The grass is always greener on the other side.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

He who laughs last laughs longest.

A person of words and not deeds is like a garden full of weeds.

Proverbs often use words in an interesting way. See if you can find some more in the library.
