The Wolverhampton University is based on five campuses across the Wolverhampton area. Wolverhampton is in the West Midlands, about 13 miles west of Birmingham. Between Wolverhampton and Birmingham lies Walsall, Dudley and West Bromwich. Telford is to the west.

The main campus is the centre of Wolverhampton. (Faculty of Science)

Compton Park is one-and-a half miles from the main site. (School of Business Studies)

Dudley campus is 7 miles from the main site close to Dudley. (Faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, and the School for Continuing Education)

Walsall campus is 9 miles from the main site, closer to Birmingham. (School of Education)

Shropshire Campus is near Telford, 16 miles west of Wolverhampton (Schools of Business, Engineering, Social Work).

Wolverhampton has excellent road and rail links with the rest of the UK. Within easy reach are lots of local towns and places of interest including the Malverns and Ironbridge. Travel locally is by bus or train. There are free shuttle buses between the campuses for students.

Most places in Halls of Residence are offered to first-year students. There are places on or near the campuses at Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Telford.

Student-centred attractions in Wolverhampton have improved with the development of the university and the town now boasts a range of eating places, clubs and shops that cater for younger people. Many students at the university are from the local area. Popular club venues: the Studio and the Canal Club. The Light House Media Centre shows films and hosts exhibitions and the Grand Theatre is the venue for a range of productions.

Compton Park is a short distance from the main campus in a pleasant suburb of Wolverhampton. Dudley campus is close to the small market town of Dudley, with its castle and castle grounds. Walsall is almost a suburb of Birmingham with plenty of shops and local amenities. Telford is a new town in Shropshire. Birmingham is within easy travelling distance for major sporting and entertainment venues as well as shopping. There are Student Union facilities on all campuses that provide bars, discos, clubs and societies.

Wolverhampton, Dudley and Walsall have multi-purpose sports halls. Walsall and Dudley also have outdoor facilities including a running track and swimming pool (at Walsall). Students at Compton Park use the amenities at Wolverhampton or at Compton Activities Centre. There are facilities in Telford for Shropshire-based students.

Sports to watch locally include football (Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion, Walsall), horse racing (Wolverhampton), athletics and dog racing.

There are library and learning centres on all sites. The Robert Scott Library is the main university library on the Wolverhampton campus.
