Huddersfield, at the foot of the Pennines in West Yorkshire, is close to junctions 23/23 of the M62. It's within easy travelling distance of Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and Sheffield. There are several sites in and around the town, but the main campus is at Queensgate in the town centre.

Holly Bank is three-quarters of a mile to the north of the town (School of Education).

The School of Human and Health Sciences uses other sites as appropriate throughout the West Yorkshire region, including Wakefield (St Lukes), Halifax and Dewsbury.

Huddersfield has good road and rail links with the rest of the UK. Leeds/Bradford airport to the north or Manchester airport to the west, are about an hours drive. Local travel is by bus or train.

Huddersfield, in the foothills of the Pennines, reflects its industrial heritage. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs through the centre of the campus. Traditional textile towns such as Halifax, and villages such as Holmfirth are nearby, as well as the open moorland of the Pennines. The town has plenty of pubs, some clubs, and local leisure amenities.

There is music for most tastes either around the university or in a local venue. The MacAlpine Stadium hosts some large-scale gigs while the Town Hall (used for Graduation Ceremonies) has a varied entertainments programme. Leeds, Bradford and Manchester are within easy reach for a night out.

The Students' Union provides sport and social activities for all students. The sports programme includes team games, swimming, sailing and outdoor activities. There is a sports hall at Queensgate and the university uses the outdoor pursuits amenities in the Pennine area. Sports to watch in the town include football and rugby, (Huddersfield Town FC and Huddersfield Giants both at the McAlpine Stadium).

There's a reasonable selection of shops in the town centre, only ten-minutes walk from the university.
