De Montfort University is spread over ten campuses at Leicester, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Lincoln. Students are located in one centre for the duration of their course. Leicester is in the heart of the Midlands, close to the M1; Bedford is 50 miles north of London; Lincoln is about 50 miles north of Leicester (15 miles from the A1M); Milton Keynes is half way between Birmingham and London, close to the M1.

DMU Leicester is the largest of the University's four centres. In Leicester, the university is based across three campuses - Leicester City in the centre of the city, Charles Frears, a mile and a half from City campus and Scraptoft, six miles outside Leicester.
Subjects offered at Leicester include Engineering, Law, Business, Computing Sciences, Health and Community Studies, Arts, Sciences, Design and Humanities.

DMU Milton Keynes is the smallest site with a campus at Kents Hill.
Subjects offered at Milton Keynes include Business, Computing & Information Sciences, Economics, Politics, Psychology & Sociology, Social Work and Applied Health & Community Studies.

DMU Bedford has two campuses - Polhill on the east side of Bedford and Landsdowne, to the west .
Subjects offered at Bedford include Primary Education, Humanities, Business Studies and Sociology programmes (at Polhill); and Physical Education, Sport & Leisure, Environmental Studies and Progressive Arts (at Landsdowne).

DMU Lincoln has four campuses - Lincoln City, Riseholme, Caythorpe and Holbeach.
Departments include School of Applied Arts and Design (Lincoln City); School of Agriculture and Horticulture (Caythorpe, Riseholme & Holbeach). Riseholme and Caythorpe are mainly residential. All sites have reasonable road and rail links with the rest of the UK.

Leicester, the location for largest of the four DMU centres with about 17,000 students, is an attractive city with plenty of green, open spaces, riverside walks and street cafes. There are clubs, pubs, theatres and a good selection of restaurants to suit all tastes. It has the feel of a modern, cosmopolitan city combined with the friendliness of a large market town. There is a wide range of shops, including a large market around the Corn Exchange. The City Campus is close to Leicester's shopping areas. The Scraptoft Campus is largely a self-contained site in a picturesque rural setting, six miles from Leicester.

In the city, the Haymarket Theatre presents top-class productions while the Phoenix Centre managed jointly by De Montfort University and Leicester City Council offers a wide selection of arts entertainment. There's music to suit everyone with live bands at the De Montfort Hall. On campus, there is plenty of night life. The Arena has a capacity for over 1,000 people. The Scraptoft Campus has band nights and discos. Throughout the year, Leicester hosts a number of carnivals and festivals. Particularly popular is the Caribbean Carnival in August.

On the City Campus the John Sandford Sports Centre has facilities for a range of sports while at Scraptoft Campus students have access to indoor and outdoor facilities. Students at Charles Frears use the facilities on the City site. Some of the sports to watch locally include football (Leicester City at Filbert Street), basketball (Leicester Riders), horse racing, rugby (Leicester Tigers) cricket, American football (The Panthers) and cycling at the Velodrome.

Lincoln is the second largest DMU site with over 3,000 students. Lincoln is steeped in history, making it an excellent place to live and study. There is plenty to do, with a selection of cinemas, theatres (The Theatre Royal, Victorian Horseshoe Theatre), clubs, cafes and restaurants all within walking distance of the city centre. In addition to the usual range of shops. there are lots of specialist shops, especially around the cathedral area.

The Students' Union for DMU Lincoln is based at the City Campus and events are organised throughout the year, including Fresher's Week Events, a Valentines Ball and a Summer Ball. Caythorpe and Riseholme Campuses each have a student bar with live bands and discos organised on a weekly basis.

DMU Lincoln provides a wide range of sport and recreational opportunities. There are swimming pools plus indoor and outdoor facilities at Caythorpe and Riseholme. The city has plenty of sporting amenities - leisure centres, fitness clubs and sports clubs. Sports to watch include football (Lincoln City) and cricket (Lincolnshire CC).

DMU at Bedford, 50 miles north of London, is the third largest site with around 3,000 students. The Polhill Campus provides the majority of university entertainment. Bedford itself is a lively town with plenty of entertainment options. Close to the Polhill Campus is the newly-built Aspects complex with a six-screen cinema, bowling alley, nightclub, and a variety of bars and restaurants.

The Student Union at Bedford has many clubs and societies covering a wide range of activities. Bedford's sport facilities are extensive, with three modern gymnasia, an indoor heated swimming pool and the Alexander Sports Hall at Landsdowne. The sports clubs are under the direction of the Athletic Union (AU). In the town there is the Robinson Pool, the Oasis Beach Pool with wave machines, water slides and jacuzzis and the international-standard Bedford Athletic Stadium. Bedford offers many water sports including sailing, windsurfing, jet biking, water skiing and parakiting.

Milton Keynes currently offers places to around 1,500 students. The social area at the Kents Hill Campus includes a bar and can accommodate a range of evening activities. In the town, The Point incorporates a multi screen cinema, restaurant, health club, night club and bars. Other local attractions include a ten pin bowling alley, a roller skating arena and an indoor karting circuit. The National Bowl - a spectacular grass amphitheatre with a central arena and room for 50,000 people - provides one of the finest open air show arenas in Britain for touring bands and other events.

DMU Milton Keynes students also have access to the sports facilities offered by the Open University Club in addition to those at Woughton Playing Fields, less than a mile from the Kents Hill. Caldecotte Water Sports Centre is managed by the University and offers opportunities for canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and rowing. Sports to watch include hockey at the National Hockey Stadium, racing at Towcester, motor racing at Silverstone. Milton Keynes also hosts a range of international competitions.

The Central Milton Keynes Shopping Centre is home to more than 140 shops.

All sites are equipped with library facilities to support the different courses. New facilities at Leicester include the opening of the new Science and Engineering Research Centre, the Innovation Centre and the extension to the Kimberlin Library.

Holbeach at Lincoln houses a food technology laboratory, a commercial horticultural unit and a produce shop.
