Streetwise is for you if you are setting out for the first time - going to college, starting a job or leaving home. It provides support on:

  • Health - health care, drugs, smoking, alcohol, sex, eating disorders and sensory and physical problems.
  • Travel- driving (learning, licences, tests, costs), travelling (rail cards etc.), passports.
  • Money - Opening a bank account, getting loans, hire purchase.
  • Study - Training Credits, college versus school, being a student, grants and registration.
  • Work - applying for jobs, National Insurance and income tax (what it all means), starting work and surviving it.
There is information and resources to complement each area, for example:

  • your rights and age limits (what can you do at 16, 18, 21?)
  • sample forms and legal documents (templates to print out and complete)
  • sources of help and advice (where to go, who to ask).
