An Action Rhyme

Parents: Teach your child this action rhyme and have fun doing the actions together. Point to the parts of the body as you say the words shown in red. Use both your hands.

Head and shoulders

knees and toes

Knees and toes

Head and shoulders

dog_minThe second time you say it, point to your head each time but don't say the word at all. Tell your child to think the word each time and be ready to say the rest of the rhyme as normal.

The third time, point to your head and shoulders each time but don't say these words at all. Say all the other words as normal.

The fourth time, point to your head, shoulders and knees each time but don't say these words at all. Say all the other words as normal.

The fifth time, point to your head, shoulders, knees and toes each time but don't say these words at all. Say all the other words as normal. (Your child really has to listen and remember when to speak!)

ted_minThe last time say all the words as loud as you can.
