Sheryl Crow was born into a musical family on 11 February 1963, in Kennett, Missouri, USA. Her parents played piano & trumpet in a jazz band and Sheryl had piano lessons from the age of 5. By the time she was 13, Sheryl was composing her own songs.

She went on to study music, performing and teaching at the University of Missouri. For a while she taught music to children with special needs in St. Louis - but Sheryl’s real love was writing and performing her own songs.

While teaching, Sheryl worked part-time as a bar singer but when the opportunity came, she left teaching to tour with Michael Jackson for 18 months on his ‘BAD’ tour. Sheryl's composing talents were soon recognised and several of her songs have been performed by top artists including Eric Clapton, Wynnona Judd, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam.

Following the ‘BAD’ tour, Sheryl's singing career revolved around session work. She eventually got her first solo break in the States on the ‘Tuesday Night Music Club’. Since she signing a recording contract with A & M, she has been nominated for 5 Grammys and was voted ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Female Vocal’. Her record ‘All I Wanna Do' was voted ‘Record of the Year’.
