Prodigy are renowned for their hectic touring schedule. Since the success of their legendary, second single ‘Charly’ in 1991, they have toured, performed and excited audiences throughout the UK at rock venues and festivals. Their gigs are often described as ‘on-stage madness’. As their popularity grows, so does their schedule. In 1996 they did 70 gigs in the UK and abroad, visiting Iceland, Japan, Australia, America and even Macedonia!
The members of the band first got together in the late eighties. All were part of the ‘rave scene’ around London. Keith, a big rave fan, became friendly with Leeroy. Together they got to know Liam through mutual friends and decided to form a dance act. Maxim (real name Keeti Palmer), left a London reggae outfit to join them.
Prodigy was born when Liam took a demo tape to the offices of XL recordings. This led to a recording contract and the band’s first single ‘What Evil Lurks’. Since those early days, Prodigy records have become more challenging and more successful.
Hit singles include ‘Charly’, ‘Everybody in the Place’, ‘Firestarter’ and ‘Breathe’. Top selling albums include ‘Experience’, ‘Music for the Jilted Generation’ and ‘The Fat of the Land’
