Take five boys from Dublin - two car mechanics, two schoolboys and an architectural student - and what do you have? Boyzone! This is exactly what manager Louis Walsh did when he auditioned hopefuls for a new band in November 1993. Since then, the success of the band has exceeded their wildest dreams with hit singles, top albums and a collection of music awards.
Yet the members of the band remain level headed and natural while enjoying their success. Ron Keating, the youngest member of the group, often acts as its spokesperson. Then there’s the chatty but shy Stephen Gately. Joker Keith Duffy is full of laughs and the mischief but it is Mikey Graham who is always ready with the quick, clever and often amusing quips. Finally, racing enthusiast Shane Lynch provides many of the dancing ideas.
Top singles include ‘Love Me for a Reason’, ‘Words’ and ‘A Different Beat’, a Number One single they are particularly proud of, having written it themselves.
