Blackamoor is a well used public resource for the City of Sheffield, and the ability to roam freely is highly valued. Blackamoor is also enjoyed by local people for its 'wilderness' appeal; the open nature of much of the vegetation provides fine views over Sheffield to the eastern lowlands.
There are several Public Rights of Way across the site. There are four main entrances; two from the A625 and one each from Strawberry Lee Lane and Shorts Lane. The conveyance provides the public with the opportunity to wander the estate freely. In practice, the nature of the vegetation prevents this and as a result a network of footpaths have developed.
