MRH101: Objectives of Housing Organisations

This Block looks at how housing organisations go about managing themselves. It begins with an examination of objectives of housing organisations and how
organisations establish plans for achieving their objectives. Once plans are set they need to be properly evaluated and the Block will consider how organisations undertake evaluation of their success or otherwise in meeting key objectives. Finally the Block will consider how organisations tackle change management.

MRH102: Reviewing Performance and Achieving Quality

This Block will look at how housing organisations review performance and achieve a quality service. It will consider why housing organisations are increasingly concerned to measure their performance and the type of monitoring systems which have been established in a variety of housing organisations.
The ways in which organisations actually use their performance monitoring data will be examined.

You will need later in this Block to look at the Annual Reports produced by local authorities and you should obtain annual reports from a number of local authorities and housing associations.

MRH103: Human Resource Management

This Block examines the role and function of human resource management.
It covers the importance of training and development for housing staff and the implementation of a planned programme of training. It then considers how staff relations are managed in housing organisations, including grievance and disciplinary procedures.

The obligations of employers to employees are covered, including contracts of employment and equal opportunities policies.

Finally, the Block considers approaches to the management of human resources.

MRH104: Effective Communication

Previous Blocks of this module have looked at the structure of housing organisations and their obligations to employees.

This Block looks at communication within the organisation and examines the importance of motivation of staff to housing organisations.
