Question 1 (33 marks)

 

 

 

A.        Explain the terms B2C and B2B, using CCC to highlight the distinction between the two terms.

B.        Identify and describe three key models for B2B e-commerce, indicating, which, if any, would be appropriate for  CCC's  B2B trading.

A.        Explain what the terms "tacit knowledge," "explicit knowledge" and "background knowledge" mean.

B.        Discuss how CCC could use tacit knowledge to take advantage of the e-Business opportunity.

C.        Discuss how CCC could use explicit knowledge to take advantage of the e-Business opportunity.

A.           For the CCC as described above, identify the actors and use cases and draw a use case diagram to represent the system diagrammatically.  'Login' and 'Register' are two of the use cases.   Present a textural use case description of 'Register' use case.

B.          For CCC's online retailing system, a description of 'Login' use case could be:

 

Login use case description: User requests to login.  Screen prompts user with a form for username and password.  User enters username and password and submits.  Screen checks that username is between 10 and 15 characters long and that password is exactly 6 characters and forwards details to system.  System checks details and if correct sends confirmation to screen.  Screen confirms and prompts user for transaction.

 

Present diagrammatically the sequence diagram for 'Login' use case.

C.          Using the CCC's case study, discuss how mobile internet services could help Carol's business. Explain how the mobile services could be created and describe the hardware and communication protocols you might choose.

Question 4 (33 marks)

 

If CCC is considering online retailing, it needs to make sure that sensitive information such as a credit card number is transmitted using secure channels of communication.  Public Key Infrastructure is designed to ensure the four cornerstones of online security.

 

A.         Identify these four cornerstones.

B.        Use examples from the CCC case study to explain briefly the cornerstones.

(14 marks)

 

C.        Verisign is a leading certificate authority.  What is a certificate authority? What is a digital certificate? Discuss services that Verisign could provide CCC if Carol was to opt for online retailing.
