COURSES We offer a range of biosciences courses in biomedical sciences, biology, forensics, pharmacology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical science, biochemistry and chemistry. Our staff are active researchers in areas such as human disease, stem cells, DNA profiling, molecular microbiology, drug detection and biological and chemical analysis. This ensures that our courses are forward thinking. We hold regular meetings with employers from the NHS and healthcare and pharmaceutical industries such as Pfizer and Astra Zeneca, ensuring our courses provide the skills and knowledge required for employment. Our biosciences courses include extended lab sessions carried out in modern well-equipped labs and an optional placement year for undergraduate students.

POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH The Biomedical Research Centre (BMRC) has an international reputation for the depth and quality of its research. Our staff collaborate with other research institutes, locally, nationally and worldwide. Research in the BMRC is focused around four main research areas
Research is strongly underpinned by expertise in and facilities for carrying out, a range of specialist analytical techniques, molecular and biological models and biological assays. The Centre has a designated commercial unit with strong industrial links, providing a range of services in bioanalysis and custom synthesis. Our research skills are utilised by local, national and international companies who access our expertise and facilities in co-development partnerships and contract research projects. We also offer a professional doctorate in biomedical science, which is equivalent to a PhD.
