Sample essay 1: 'Dr. Faustus is a morality play without a moral.' Discuss.

In determining whether or not Dr. Faustus is a morality play without a moral, the student writing the essay looks at both the events of the play and also some of its formal characteristics, including the structure of the narrative, how the characters are presented (e.g. are they individuals or representations of type?), and the comic scenes.
